"My Grace is Sufficient"

Ciao tutti!!!!

Gee willickers it feels like 3 infinite eternities not just one single measly week!!! and yet it has flown by too...

so welcome to my life i call the time warp of a lifetime... okay let's begin...

Buongiorno! My name is Sorella Jarnagin and I have survived seven days at the MTC. My companion is Sorella Tacchi ( pronounced Tacky like ew socks and sandals are so tacky) and she is from,....... Bristol England!!! So posh right?? Basically her Britishism is rubbing off on me and I am rubbing off on her... and we love each other so much and get along awesomely because we both love to have fun and not just get too caught up in being too serious and letting all the stress get to us... I am so blessed to have her like 4 REALZ. She saves my life daily. and she is so good at the language already because she has taken 2 years in school, so she is my go to study buddy and word helper outer, if that makes any sense to you people at all...

I cannot think of every specific situation this week that i have felt the overwhelming power of Dio's (God's) love for me, but here are a small few...

Saturday night we taught our second lesson with our investigator Simone, who is seeking inspiration and desires for his prayers to be answered by Dio. sorella Tacchi and I worked hard in our meager italiano to convey to him the love Dio has for him... but he just wasn't really feeling it. and that, my friends, is the first heartbreak of what i am sure are many to missionaries. but it was a heartbreak neither of us have ever experienced. and so we both were really down and i might have had a full on water park springing from the ducts of my eyes... but whatever okay. nothing i havent done before! haha. Also, side note, i apologize for my terrifying grammar these next 18 months as i dont have time to use apostrophes to make contractions nor probably spell check... so cut me some slack but only until the day i come home and then i will pull it together once again...

any way. So on Sunday both of us were feeling sorta down. we went to the 9 am session of the provo city center temple dedication with all the missionari from the MTC. and Dallin H. Oaks blessed the MTC in the dedication thing!!! and they said that doesn't often happen, so we are REALLY BLESSED and lucky to be part of that and to have been blessed by an apostle di Dio!!!

But after that we had relief society since church is our life, and we had a POWERFULLLLLL lesson on  why we are disciples of christ. and it is simply because we want people to know they are loved by Dio e Gesu Cristo, but also, that they can be FORGIVEN of their SINS and BECOME BETTER. Yes I am talking to you, there, pretending I am just writing this email to convey my awkwardness to all of you normal peeps. I realized then that the most important thing we can do as missionaries is to turn OUTWARD and share of Christ's atonement and his love for all of the Children of God.

And after feeling this amazing feeling with small water parks in my eyes about the love I  have for Jesus Christ all he has sacrificed for me, I was able to gain a little more peace.

but later that night sorella tacchi and i prayed together before planning the lesson for simone that we had on monday and i said the prayer... and i won't bug you with all the deets of that experience mostly because it is intensely sacred to me, but i've never said a stronger, more devoted prayer in my life. by the end of it, we were both in tears, and we just felt so much love for Simone and we wanted to convey that to him so badly. we just want to be strong vessels for the Lord to use to spread the gospel to those who do not feel loved or who are unaware of God's love and purpose and guidance for them. God loves you. Even when you fall. The important thing is that you get back up and keep trying no matter how many times it takes, no matter how many scars you have, or pieces you are in. you must GET BACK UP and BELIEVE christ when he says he can heal you because he CAN he gave his mortal life in its entirety so we can have agency and have the choice to come back. and that choice, the choice you make to come back to christ, is perhaps the most IMPORTANTE decision you will EVER make in your LIFE. Was that enough caps to emphasize that? Good.

And it is Easter this Sunday and we have all been thinking, as sort of the theme this week, what was Christ doing at this very moment in his life? What trials was he experiencing, what pain and bitterness and hurt? But also, what joy and what love? that has really humbled me, thinking that as this week has been really hard but really rewarding, that my trials compared to Christs are little bits of pebbles. But of course, all of ours are. and they are still significant to each of us because we are all on different levels in life... but it is just good to remember that not only did Christ suffering infinite amounts for all the pains and afflictions we have had and will have, he also felt joy just like us. he endured to the end... and he knows us, INDIVIDUALLY and he knows our pain and our sorrows and our wants and our needs... so don't ever take that knowledge we have of that for granted, okay? Because he has NEVER taken you for granted, and he NEVER will.

On a more flerpy note, I have converted Sorella Tacchi to saying lerpy so that's a success there...

and my poor journal only gets about 4 sentences a night but hey its all i can do. but the most important thing i have learned here is not to compare yourself to others, and to only focus on God's direct plan and purpose for you. we may all have to end up at the same destination, but none of us always travel the same path getting there.

yes, my wisdom is unreal.

alrighty....also you people better write me letters because mail literally makes my LIFE!! haha. and so much thanks to those who have already written me, you are way kind and i appreciate it SO much!!!!! Go out there and be kind to people, okay? because we have no room to judge their actions or assume their trials.

I love all of you and have thought about you alot!!! and I miss you and the outside world and fro yo (Syd;) and stupid jokes and everything else about all of you. The empty sea is a lovely and brutal place all at once... but really it is so fun so don't worry about me, i got this!! well God does, and that is the only confidence i need!!!

Thank you for all of your support. I probably won't write this much again, sorry for the novel but hey i had to inform you of some cool stuff...

Some funny moments:

we are sitting at dinner and me and Sorella Tacchi both got these veggie cups with celery and carrots... and by the end of dinner we looked at each other, and realized i had eaten all the celery and she had eaten all the carrots... so basically it was a cosmic sign that we complete each other!!!!

another funny moment that happened yesterday in classe, keep in mind i wasincredibly exhausted...

but we were told to get our english scriptures out and our italiano ones... so i have them both open and then Fratello walden asked me to read and so i start reading in english, but then he stops me and says "italiano" and I just stare at the page, and I'm like... "say what?" and he was like "italiano!" and i was like "but what if i don't know any words?" and then he just looked at me like i was the numbest skull on the planet until he realized quickly what i meant and the whole classe and me just started laughing and he was like "no, you follow in english, you read in italiano...."
so it is safe to say that i am still as blonde as ever..

hahaha.

Love you all. You better write me or I will sell your personal information to the mob. not really. unless i meet them. then maybe.

Ciao!!!!

Remember all that you are worth!!!

-Sorella Jarnagin

"Thou hast also made our words powerful and great, even that that we cannot write them; wherefore, when we write we behold our weakness, and stumble because of the placing of our words; and I fear lest the Gentiles shall mock at our words.

and when I had said this, the Lord spake unto me, saying: Fools mock, but they shall mourn; and my grace is sufficient for the meek, that they shall take no advantage of your weakness;

and if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. i give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

Hi, My name is Sorella Jarnagin and I'm a Mormon Missionary!!!

Buongiorno!!!!

Wowzers. Since we don't get a P Day this week, which will normally be on Thursdays, we got to email just for a tiny baby short time today, right now... so here we go. i will try to say as much as i can!!!

1. Italiano.... MAMMA MIA. I have improved a lot since the first day when they dropped us off at classe 12.287 minutes after arriving. but i still feel like i can hardly understand! My pronounciation is a toooonnnnn better.... but i still Stink at it... so PRAY FOR ME PER FAVORE

(you pronounce every single letter.... so thanks for nothing english!!!)

2. My companion is Sorella Tacchi pronounced like those socks and sandals are tacky... from Bristol England she is so legit and we get along sooooo well. basically, it is just wonderful proof heavenly father knows me ALL TOO WELL. and he knew i needed an awesome sorella to help me with this crazy thing I decided to sign myself up for!!!!

She is English and Swedish and italiano and she took italiano for twoyears so she knows grammar and such really well...

We taught our first lesson in italiano first thing this morning to Simone, and that was a trainwreck but less of one than we thought it would be.

The food here....... i eat salad for two meals a day.... WOO WOOO

Tuesday we get to go to salt lake for the consulate....

Basically I miss you guys and it's very weird being a missionary because it feels like an alternate universe... but i am still me, but less me than i was before.. does that make sense??

We were teaching Simone about prayer today, and although i could hardly get half a thought across, the spirit was still there!!!

The spirit here is different than any other... it is more of a constant peace than anything else. i never get nervous or really that stressed, because i know he is literally right next to me and he is helping me. and the thought that has helped me the most when i want to rage slightly low key at everything not working out so well, and me not being instantly fluent... is that god loves me. he trusts me. and he knows where i need to be every minute of every day. and in the end though, it isn't about me.... it's about preparing to he;p the people of italy and help them come unto christ....

Matthew 10:4-5 comes to mind right now... go read if you are spiritually hungry or just because.....

typos for days because i am  trying to say so much in so short a time...

Talk to you this next thursday, i hope. I have felt your prayers and i hope to feel more cause i am going to need them!!!

I didn't think that when people said missions were hard, it would be this type of difficulty... because i feel like i don't have an identity and yet i have this great purpose to distract from that.. it is very strange... but there have been a few moments of pure joy and pure comfort that have made it worth it, although the days are long and things are CRAZY i always did love a little crazy ;) love you guys and I can't wait to hear about home!!!!

Funny moment of the week: we are in People and Purpose workshop, and the presenter asks how we feel the spirit and poor anziani who is trying to be funny says " it felt like my first kiss" and we all cock our heads and wonder what the heck he is thinking. and the presenter said very nonchalantly, "inappropriate but okay."

So there you go. Missionaries are awkward and you just embrace it.

but there is no where else in the world i would rather be right now!!!! Our district is already so close and we are like a little italian mob that helps others come unto christ!!!

Oh and PS WRITE ME LETTERS SO I DONT FEEL SAD AND ALONE.... jk. but really write me and i will write back on my PDAY!!!!

I Love you all and i am praying for you darling parentals... more to come next week,

Sorella Yarn a Gin (how it is pronounced in Italiano, ahha its a struggle for them)

p.s. i will send pics next week of all the cool stuff here at Spiritual Hogwarts... and tell people to write me because it helps SO Mucho!!!

The Adventure of a Lifetime

Yesterday, our sweet Hannah embarked on what will surely play out to be a remarkable journey.

She was dropped off by her family at the Provo MTC March 16, 2016

The Sunday before that, many wonderful people came to see her off, including Aunt Ruth who played "I Believe in Christ" on piano.

The above events have concluded several months of packing, repacking, unpacking, overpacking, packratting, and catpantspacking. Next up: jetpacking.
